sending you all the hugs & gratitude this Friday! It’s warm in Boston & I am feeling so excited for summer 🥰

Wherever you are in life, know the only constant is CHANGE and new beginnings can be found in the most magical places:

✨a deep breath
✨sunrise of a new day
✨move to a new city
✨start of a new job
✨here & now!

Change is meant to be celebrated! It’s a part of what makes us all one—our transient experience on this magical planet.

There’s so many ways life gives us these reminders and they can sometimes be quite painful. Yet, over time, even the most harsh, harmful conditions can create beauty as a mollusk creates a pearl.

Some personal little notes on transitions is live on the blog to celebrate my first day in a new chapter of work!

// May is Mental Health Awareness month, loved one // May is Mental Health Awareness month, loved ones.

Though I’ve been through a variety of different challenging times in my life, I’ve recently experienced a depressed state for the first time. I had to write down all the things I was experiencing on paper to come to terms with this fact because the feeling of low energy and constant fight/flight was unfamiliar to me.

As I moved through this challenging time, I have gained different insights about what’s important to me and how I can stay true to myself. It’s propelled me to make changes in my life, get clear on my values/virtues, and move forward into the next chapter of my life.

This little caption will never be able to fully capture this journey, but I am working on finding words for the experience and intend to spend this month reflecting, sharing, and firming up my fundamentals as I move forward.

I want to express gratitude for the below three people/things in my life:

1. My counselor (and therapy in general!): SO MUCH more to say here, but she allowed me to be honest about what I needed and helped me identify when I was in a time of crisis.

2. My boyfriend, Justin: He has been my rock through this all. We have gotten stronger through the most difficult times. I am so grateful for his persistence, patience, and support.

3. My family and friends: So many girlfriend who texted me to “check in” without requiring a response, Wednesday afternoons spent with my sis, quality time with my nephew, a dose of the salt life again, and so much more. I wouldn’t be here without you all! You all reminded me of my worth, power, and gifts.

If you have made it this far, thank you. Thank you for being here, for being you, and for all the love! Did you know focusing only on three things you’re grateful for is actually more impactful than an exhaustive list? Something I recently learned during my @heroicpbc coach training 😁

I’ll be sharing more health/wellness on the blog this month so keep updated there:

And before you go - remember YOU are amazing.

// 💁🏻‍♀️“How are you?” … [mind f // 💁🏻‍♀️“How are you?”
…
[mind flows through the overwhelm of the last week, the feelings of shame, sadness, and grief mixed with moments of joy, celebration, and love… how do I express all this at once? Do they have the time to listen? Probably not… sigh…]
🙇🏽‍♂️“I’m good.”
💁🏻‍♀️“What’s new?”
🙇🏽‍♂️“Nothing really…”

Sigh indeed. The classic “How are you?” It’s a question we get asked often, and something we ask others nearly every day. Yet… how honest are we being when answering and (perhaps even more so) are we creating space for the responder to answer authentically?

Having been through some challenging emotional states, these four examples of asking “How are you?” provided me with the safest, most open platform to be more honest with my response.

1. I’ve been thinking about you lately. How are you doing?
2. Is there any support you need right now?
3. Hey, just checking in on you. Let me know if you need support.
4. How do you feel today? I am here for you.

🛑Remember, your mental health ALWAYS matters. If you or a loved one are struggling with mental health, please use the suicide hotline:

What are some other ways we can ask each other “How are you?” Share in the comments below!⤵️
// PSA: you’re amazing. Just as you are. You don // PSA: you’re amazing. Just as you are. You don’t need to change a thing to be lovable, acceptable, or enough for someone else. You have unique thoughts, talents, skills, feelings. You deserve to be seen, heard, loved… JUST. AS. YOU. ARE.

Loving yourself NOW doesn’t mean you’ll be this way forever. It doesn’t stifle your growth. It welcomes the whole you, complete you, with full & wholehearted acceptance into the world & into your heart.

Love isn’t perfect but it’s worth it. Pour the love into yourself - you deserve it.
