When we are entirely immersed in the moment, we are astutely aware of our immediate surroundings and the rest of the world disappears. Our thoughts, confusions, and emotional turmoil are irrelevant. Our attention shifts inward, and awareness of our heart rate and breath are stronger. We sense interconnectedness with the universe, and perhaps a warming sensation of gratitude and love. The concept of time and place, which are measurable in numbers and by various means, seem incomprehensible to us. Everything slips away from us like grains of sand through our fingertips, and appears in front of us as snapshots of ourselves and our essence. We almost experience these moments as an onlooker, and are in awe at our situation. When reflecting on these moments, it’s a whirlwind.
This is how I can summarize my weekend in the Florida Keys.

“Home is wherever you are.”
Is it? Just because I am here, does it mean I am home? And what is this location referring to–is it my mental or physical position? By definition, home is a noun–a place you can pin-point on a map, get directions to, and describe in length/width/height. Yet, I undoubtedly feel home is something more. It cannot be measured the number of bedrooms/bathrooms, windows, doors, or square footage. It’s not simply identifiable via coordinates of longitude and latitude. To me, the word “home” is much more of an adjective; a way to describe how we feel. The word “home” elicits feelings of comfort, support, and love. I can feel the word radiating from my heart.
home (noun) \ hōm \
the place where one lives permanently, especially as a member of a family or household.
synonyms: residence, place of residence, house, apartment, flat, bungalow, cottage

Between the dive shop that certified my friends and I (Gold Coast Scuba – HIGHLY recommended!) and Divers Direct in Fort Lauderdale, I gained a ton of information about various gear specs and features. The mask/fin/snorkel combination is undoubtedly useful to any diver (or snorkeler!) and became my priority purchase. With guidance from many divers/shops and online research, I decided to purchase the following gear:
- ScubaMax Aria mask
- ScubaMax Semi-Dry snorkel
- Mares SuperChannel full-foot fins (+) EVO 1.5mm thickness socks

Through Instagram, I have stumbled upon/actively sought out many inspirational individuals. It started with various yogis and has grown to countless spiritual pages. Somewhere along my Instagram meandering, I stumbled upon Danielle LaPorte and her book, The Desire Map. Through my belief system in the Law Of Attraction (which we will continue to discover together), I have adapted quickly to the ideas presented in this book/ workbook.
Wouldn’t it be great if we could be in tune with how we want to FEEL on a daily/weekly/monthly/yearly basis, and then follow our life’s path with the #1 goal to feel good? Often times, people set concrete goals they believe will create happiness or other associated emotions. With a certain job, salary, partner, material object, etc., happiness would be generated. However, these goals can be limiting as they do not allow the universe to materialize our passions and desires in the best way. They don’t allow for any room for interpretation. We seek something outside in order to feel something inside. What if we flip this and, instead, seek something inside of ourselves? In The Desire Map, Danielle LaPorte challenges you to ask yourself: HOW DO YOU WANT TO FEEL? What if the job you THOUGHT would make you happy is not actually the most ideal for you, or something better is out there? You’ve created a block to these other opportunities by being narrow-minded and focusing on your self-generated goal. You’ve not connected to a WHY or associated a deeper meaning to this goal. You’ve just decided, for some reason it’s what will make you happy. What Danielle LaPorte (and I!) challenge you to question is not WHAT you want out of your life in a material sense, but how your soul wants to feel.

Today, I am incredibly thankful for the journey I have taken to relocate to South Florida and the current season of my life. This gratitude encompasses all the people who have influenced my journey, my past actions and decisions, and all areas of personal growth I have experienced. The day’s emotions and exhaustion have led me to reflect on the steps it took me to be where I am today–sitting on my own couch in my own apartment in the Sunshine State, miles away from my family and friends in my hometown. Loneliness and confusion struck again after being reunited with my family for a few days, locking myself out of my apartment (first time for everything?), and wishing I didn’t have to take a flight every time I wanted to see my people. Somehow, despite these feelings, I am still feeling confident in my journey to the Sunshine State.
There is undeniable beauty in trusting the unknown and believing in a higher power to support your life’s journey. Within my heart, I have had many questions in the first quarter of 2015. I sensed there was something big coming this year and that I would have to trust my intuition. I made a vision board at the beginning of this year, which completely reflects my current life. It’s amazing how the Law of Attraction works it magic, and it seemed to happen quickly for me. However, I don’t feel it was an easy process to transition to a new location in South Florida–nor was it an easy decision to make. It took a while to get to this point, and there have been many emotions along the way, but I have persevered and made it to where I am today. As I mentioned yesterday, FEAR is an awakening emotion. When offered a position at my current job in Florida, I first felt joy and gratitude, then immediate deep-rooted feelings of fear. How could I leave all my family, friends, and roots in New York? Was it enough to think I was pursuing my dream? Yet somehow, I made it to today. I am respecting the process and appreciating the ups and the downs – just embracing it all.
